Julia Child officially comes to YouTube

Fans of Julia Child have a new way to watch some of her classic shows, via a newly created YouTube channel!

PBS Distribution has launched a new YouTube channel showcasing episodes of The French Chef, starring Julia Child, plus other shows from the fondly remembered chef’s back catalogue. At the time of writing, the channel is currently home to 27 episodes of The French Chef, full episodes offered free to watch online. More are expected to be added on a regular basis.

Here is what it says on the ‘about’ section of the newly opened channel.

“Spark some culinary inspiration by revisiting Julia Child’s groundbreaking cooking series, including The French Chef, Baking with Julia, Julia Child: Cooking with Master Chefs and much more. These episodes are filled with classic French dishes, curious retro recipes, talented guest chefs, bloopers, and Julia’s signature wit and kitchen wisdom. Discover for yourself how this beloved cultural icon introduced Americans to French cuisine, and how her light-hearted approach to cooking forever changed how we prepare, eat and think about food. Bon appétit!”

Julia Child YouTube Channel

The French Chef was originally syndicated on public television between 1963 and 1973, running for 201 episodes over 10 series. It was presented by published cookbook author Julia Child, (1912-2004) who later went on to present other series. She was recently portrayed by Sarah Lancashire in the HBO Max series comedy-drama series Julia. A second season is expected in 2023.
