BBC Four to Broadcast Come Dancing 1974 Final

According to upcoming schedules, the final of Come Dancing from 1974 will be broadcast on BBC Four on the 19th of February 2023. This follows the recent broadcast of the complete 1979 series of the dancing competition.

Come Dancing was originally shown on BBC television in 1949 and ran on and off until 1998. Hosts have included Wogan, Peter West, Angela Rippon, Judith Chalmers, Pete Murray, Michael Aspel et al.  The regional ballroom dancing competition show was later revamped as Strictly Come Dancing in 2004, which continues to this day.

Since the start of it’s repeat run in January, Come Dancing has gained a following on social media. From the differences between the original and Strictly to the joy of formation dancing, fans have found plenty to discuss.

The broadcast of the 1974 final, as opposed to a run of the full series, is is likely because the tapes no longer exist for the previous episodes. It is unclear if BBC Four will be running any further existing editions.

Come Dancing 1974 will be broadcast on the 19th of February 2023 at 7pm.
