1950s series The Buccaneers Coming to Talking Pictures

Talking Pictures TV have announced its intention to broadcast the 1950s drama series The Buccaneers, starring Robert Shaw, in May 2023. The series, originally aimed at children, was originally broadcast on ATV / ITV in the UK, and CBS in the US.

The series, originally made by Sapphire Films for ITC Entertainment, ran for one season of thirty-nine episodes in 1956/1957. It starred Robert Shaw as ex-pirate Captain Dan Tempest.

This news follows the regular broadcast of other ITC Entertainment programming on Talking Pictures, including The Adventures of Robin Hood, William Tell, The Four Just Men, and Sir Francis Drake.

The first episode of The Buccaneers will air, as part of the Saturday Morning Pictures strand, on Saturday the 13th of May 2023 at 10:35 am. Please see the Talking Pictures TV website for further schedule information.
