The Beverly Hillbillies Coming to Talking Pictures TV

Talking Pictures TV has announced their intention to broadcast the classic 1960s American Sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. This follows the channel’s recent airing of the 1993 film revival.

The Beverly Hillbillies first aired on CBS in 1962. It ran for 274 episodes over 9 seasons, ending in 1971. It was created by Paul Henning and starred Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Donna Douglas, & Max Baer Jr. It followed the Clampetts, a poor, backwoods family from the countryside in Missouri, who move to posh Beverly Hills, California, after striking oil on their land.

This show was very popular during its run, often ranking in the top 20 most watched programs; 16 of its episodes are still among the 100 most-watched television episodes in American history. It’s success inspired a number of similar shows in a reminiscent vein, which went on to be American classics in their own right. These included Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.

The arrival of The Beverly Hillbillies coincides with the announcement of Bonanza coming to Talking Pictures. The two titles join a large variety of classic television on the channel including Out of Town, Stingray, The Brothers and Worzel Gummidge. TPTV Encore also has a selection of vintage American programming from Four Star Productions.

The Beverly Hillbillies begins on Talking Pictures TV on Tuesday the 5th of March at 5:55pm. It will continue every week at the same time.

Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics.
