That’s TV to Rerun Classic Blankety Blank Again

That’s TV will broadcast Les Dawson-hosted episodes of the classic game show Blankety Blank, starting Tuesday the 9th of April 2024.

Blankety Blank first appeared on UK screens in 1979. Hosted by Terry Wogan and features a whole host of household names from Roy Kinnear and Paul Daniels to Kenny Everett and Lorraine Chase. Comedian Les Dawson took over the show in 1984, hosting it until 1990.

The show’s gameplay consisted of two rounds. In the first, the host tells a story that features a fillable blank or blanks. Two contestants then try to match the six celebrities. This continues until there is an overall winning contestant, who then moves on to the Supermatch game. The remaining contestant has to answer a blank based on a one-word clue given to audience members before the show. Celebrities give them hints and the top three answers are then revealed. The contestant then wins a prize based on the level of answer they got correctly. The format was first produced as Match Game in the USA.

That’s TV has been broadcasting Blankety Blank intermittently on its channels since the Summer of last year. The planned run of episodes, hosted by Les Dawson, was recently broadcast on That’s TV 2. The slot it will occupy was previously taken by reruns of The Brittas Empire, which finishes today. It is unknown if the episodes will run past series 7 and 8.

Series 7 of Blankety Blank will air on That’s TV, starting Tuesday the 9th of April at 5:55. It will continue daily around the same time. Please see the schedule for further changes.
