That’s TV Celebrates Goodnight Sweetheart

Following a previous rerun on the channel, That’s TV will be re-running the full series of Goodnight Sweetheart. The channel has been celebrating the iconic 90s sitcom’s 30th anniversary with weekend marathons and nightly broadcasts. The first complete nighttime run concluded on the 18th of November, ending with a broadcast of the 2016 special.

Created by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the time travel sitcom Goodnight Sweetheart ran for 59 episodes over 6 series between 1993 and 1999 on BBC1. It returned for a one-off special in 2016. The series also featured Victor McGuire, Michelle Holmes, Dervla Kirwan and Christopher Ettridge. Holmes and Kirwan were later replaced by Emma Amos and Elizabeth Carling.

It follows the life of Gary Sparrow (Lyndhurst), who discovers he can travel back to wartime London in the 1940s. With the help of his friend Ron (McGuire), he leads a double life with a wife in the 1990s and a girlfriend in the 1940s.

The addition of this show to the That’s TV lineup follows recent airings of Sykes, Sorry!, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum and Til Death Us do Part and Shameless.

The new run of Goodnight Sweetheart starts on That’s TV on Sunday 19th of November 2023 at 8:20pm. It will continue daily around the same time. Please see the channel’s schedule for further information.
