Prisoner (known as Prisoner Cell Block H in the UK) has arrived on Channel 5‘s My5 platform. The cult Australian soap opera, set in Wentworth Detention Centre, hasn’t been seen on UK screens for many years. The first ten episodes are currently available to stream, with more expected to follow.

The series first aired on Network Ten in 1979, running for 692 episodes over 8 seasons until 1986. It was initially broadcast on ITV in the UK, before later being shown on Channel 5. A reimagining of the series, entitled Wentworth, began in 2012.

Reruns of a classic show on streaming media is fast becoming a trend. This news follows the recent commencement of STV Player dropping Brookside episodes from the beginning.

Prisoner Cell Block H is currently streaming on My5.
