My Week In Vintage: 14-11-19

British writer and broadcaster Jamie Dyer writes about his week in consuming and discovering vintage related media.

Hello and welcome to another My Week in Vintage blog for Old Time Review. After celebrating my birthday a week ago, the festivities of the season take over my schedule; meaning less time for the website and podcasting. Have no fear, I shall be back to full strength in the new year!

Yulesville!

My last CD review of the year, it was one of the most challenging. An eclectic mix of obscure and festive favourites, this Bear Family compilation blew me away. Even a week after finishing the last draft, I am still humming the tune of ‘Boogie Woogie Santa Claus’ by Patti Page. You can read my full review here.

How 2 On Amazon Prime

Slightly Off-Topic: Created by Jack Hargreaves and broadcast between 1966 and 1981, How is a fondly remembered British educational children’s TV show from yesteryear. Rarely repeated, it seemed unlikely that this show would ever see the light of day again. Sadly, that is still the case for the original version, but not the revamp. The 1990s version, How 2 has just made its debut on Amazon Prime. Presented by Fred Dinenage, Gareth Jones and Carol Vorderman, it took the old format and revitalised it for a new generation. I loved watching this show while growing up and I am looking forward to binging the series at a later date.

Thank you for reading this edition of the Old Time Review blog! I wish everyone happy holidays and a happy new year! If you want to get in contact, please email Jamie@OldTimeReview.co.uk.
