Chorlton and the Wheelies Coming to DVD

Fabulous Films will release the complete series of the animated show Chorlton and the Wheelies onto DVD. Although no date has been given, the company teased a future release on their Facebook page.

Chorlton and the Wheelies was first broadcast in 1976. It was made by Cosgrove Hall Productions for Thames Television, running for 40 11-minute episodes over 3 series. The show followed the adventures of Chorlton, an anthropomorphic happiness dragon, in “Wheelie World”, a place where people move around on wheels. The villain is Fenella the Kettle Witch.

The series was written by Brian Trueman, with voices by Joe Lynch. Music, including the catchy theme tune, was composed by Joe Griffiths.

This release follows other Cosgrove Hall Productions onto physical media via Fabulous Films. These include Count Duckula, Wind in the Willows and Jamie and the Magic Torch. There was also a reissue of 1989’s The BFG.

A release date for Chorlton and the Wheelies is yet to be announced.
