My Week In Vintage 16-03-20

British writer and broadcaster Jamie Dyer writes about his week in consuming and discovering vintage related media.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the My Week In Vintage blog, from Old Time Review. Although it has been some time since my last entry, I felt like this was the moment it should continue. It is a very worrying time for all of us, because of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation, but I would like to wish everyone all the best. The blog is a bit shorter this time, but full service will resume next week.

Big Finish Release Timeslip Trailer.

It delighted me to see an audio revival of British 70s Science Fiction television series Timeslip was in the works from Big Finish Productions. Reuniting the original cast of Spencer Banks and Cheryl Burfield, this is sure to introduce the show to a whole new audience, along with allowing fans to catch up with the characters. I first discovered the TV show on a DVD compilation, then finding a complete story on VHS in a charity shop; It has since seen a release on DVD. Timeslip Volume 01: The Age of the Death Lottery will be released in May 2020 and is available to pre-order from Big Finish.

RIP Roy Hudd

I would like to express my sadness at hearing the news of the passing of British Comedian and Actor Roy Hudd. A long career in the entertainment industry, I have enjoyed his humour through Radio shows The News Huddlines and Like They’ve Never Been Gone on BBC Radio. Some may also remember his massive contribution to stage and screen, he will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

Network’s Father Came Too! Blu-Ray Release.

Following Jane Grandle’s review of their Blu-Ray release of The Fast Lady, it was my turn to have my say about Network’s release of the sequel Father Came Too! I owned the original DVD release and felt amazed by the step-up in quality; Thanks to a restoration presented sparkling in its original aspect ratio. While not entirely original, the film is worth a view. My full review can be found here!
