Talking Pictures TV to Broadcast The Black Hole (1979)

Talking Pictures TV is to broadcast the science fiction film The Black Hole.

First released in 1979, The Black Hole was directed by Gary Nelson and produced by Ron Miller for Walt Disney Productions. It starred Maximilian Schell, Robert Forster, Anthony Perkins and Ernest Borgnine. Additional voices were provided by Roddy McDowell and Slim Pickens. The music was by John Barry.

When a research vessel containing scientist Kate McCrae discovers the previously
missing USS Cygnus, captained by Kate’s father, near a black hole, they decide to
find out the mystery behind it.

The Black Hole Synopsis

In the past, Talking Pictures TV has broadcast a number of films from Disney owned libraries such as Twentieth Century Fox and Hollywood Pictures. From our research, this is the first time the channel has shown a Disney-branded film.

Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics.
