The Outer Limits Coming to Talking Pictures TV

“There Is Nothing Wrong With Your Television Set… Do Not Attempt To Adjust The
Picture… We Are Controlling Transmission…”

British TV channel Talking Pictures has announced its plan to broadcast The Outer Limits, the classic anthology series first broadcast on ABC between 1963 and 1965.

The Outer Limits has been compared to The Twilight Zone; the formats are similar with a different story and characters in each episode, but The Outer Limits is focussed squarely on science fiction, steering away from the supernatural and fantastical.

The series will be well remembered by some for its theatrical introduction, which informed viewers that their TV set would be controlled entirely by the broadcast; it had been taken over and should not be adjusted. Indeed the reach of the show can be traced as far as other television programmes such as The A-Team when character Murdock quotes in a suitably creepy tone “We control the horizontal; we control the vertical…”.

Guest stars include Ed Asner, Macdonald Carey, Dabney Coleman, Robert Culp, Bruce Dern, Robert Duvall, Mimsy Farmer, Don Gordon, Harry Guardino, Gloria Grahame, Signe Hasso, Miriam Hopkins, Richard Jaeckel, Sally Kellerman, Shirley Knight, Martin Landau, George Macready, John Marley, Leonard Nimoy, Donald Pleasence, Martin Sheen and many more

The Outer Limits starts on Talking Pictures TV on Friday the 7th of January at 8pm.
