That’s TV 3, the British archive TV channel, has announced it will broadcast the 1990s sitcom Outside Edge. The announcement was posted on their social media, accompanied by a video clip of the series. No broadcast date has been revealed yet, simply “This summer on That’s TV”
What is Outside Edge?
Outside Edge focuses on two contrasting couples—Roger and Miriam Dervish, and Kevin and Maggie Costello—who are brought together by their village cricket team.
Created by Richard Harris, it was an expanded adaptation of his 1979 play of the same name. It was produced by Central Television, and ran for 22 episodes over 3 series between 1994 and 1996. The main cast consisted of Timothy Spall, Brenda Blethyn, Josie Lawrence, and Robert Daws.
That’s TV
The That’s TV network has significantly increased its offering of classic TV in recent years. What started as a single channel airing reruns of Benny Hill and Kenny Everett has expanded into multiple channels with classic programming.
In the last few weeks, That’s TV have begun to add further classic shows to their schedule. These include Oh, Doctor Beeching, Man About the House, No, Honestly and Father, Dear Father. Regular programming includes On The Buses, Just Good Friends, Steptoe and Son and Benidorm. We will continue to update when new titles are announced.
That’s TV 3 is available to view on Freeview (71), Sky (183), and Virgin (296).

And another one appears out of nowhere! It’s great to see Outside Edge about to be given some regular attention, after sporadic airings on ITV3.
I recall the time when most of these series were confined to physical Media releases or satellite television. it’s wonderful that companies like That’s TV are dusting off these gems, proving that classic British TV isn’t only exclusive to a few titles.
I’ll admit I haven’t seen much of this series, I look forward to checking it out.
