That’s TV will broadcast the 1990s British sitcom Oh, Doctor Beeching! on its main channel. The news was first teased via a video of the opening titles on their social media, then confirmed for a 28th of June start date.
What is Oh, Doctor Beeching!
Oh Doctor Beeching! is set in the early 1960s at Hatley station, a quiet rural outpost under threat of closure following the Beeching Report into British Railways. When a new station master arrives to assess the branch line’s future, the long-serving staff must contend with bureaucratic changes, workplace mishaps, and personal tensions as they try to keep the station open.
The show first aired on the BBC in 1995, running for 20 episodes over two series before ending in 1997. It was created by David Croft and Richard Spendlove, and starred Paul Shane, Su Pollard, Jeffrey Holland, and Stephen Lewis. Exteriors were filmed at the preserved Arley station on the Severn Valley Railway. The theme tune, a modified version of the music hall song, was performed by cast member Su Pollard.
The Progression of That’s TV
The That’s TV network has significantly increased its offering of classic TV in recent years. What started as a single channel airing reruns of Benny Hill and Kenny Everett has expanded into multiple channels with classic programming.
Current shows include Home to Roost, Bread, Duty Free, Goodnight Sweetheart and Rising Damp. We will continue to publicise future additions following their announcement.
That’s TV is available to view on Freeview (56), Sky (171), Freesat (164, Freely (42) and Virgin (150).

This is a series that I have heard a lot about, but never seen. Oh, Doctor Beeching! is seemingly remembered with a fondness based on the feedback I’ve seen, probably owing to the impressive cast and the nostalgic setting. I look forward to seeing what this ’90s classic has to offer.
It’s good to see that That’s TV is starting to invest in “new” programming, following several months of inactivity in that department. Hopefully, more BBC series are on the way!
