80s sitcom Bread Returning to That’s TV

The BBC sitcom Bread, written by Carla Lane, will be rerun on That’s TV. The channel has previously shown the series.


What is Bread?
Bread originally aired on BBC1 from 1986 to 1991. It was written by Carla Lane and follows the Boswell family in Liverpool as they deal with financial struggles, love, and family life. The show consisted of 74 episodes over 7 series.

The main cast included Jean Boht as the matriarch Nellie Boswell, Victor McGuire as Jack, Peter Howitt as Joey, and Gilly Coman (later Melanie Hill) as Aveline. Additional key roles were played by Kenneth Waller as Grandad and Nick Conway as Billy.


The Progression of That’s TV
That’s TV has significantly expanded its offerings in recent years. What started with airing just a few classic shows has now evolved into an entire evening’s schedule of British comedies. Other shows in their lineup include Are You Being Served Again, Goodnight Sweetheart, Steptoe and Son, Three Up Two Down and Benidorm. Rising Damp and Duty Free were also recently added to the schedule.
